About the play

LatinX Theatre Project’s newest play, Sherlock Holmes: The Timbers Family File reimagines Sherlock Holmes as a Latine/x detective living and operating within their community. Our story follows a younger version of Sherlock Holmes as they make a name for themselves as the city’s newest detective by uncovering a string of robberies that has the entire neighborhood shook and police cracking down on the homies. With the help of the community and their unlikely companion, Watson, Sherlock is determined to figure out who is behind it all, and how to stop them.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

The LatinX Theatre Project (LXTP) advocates for social change by creating ensemble-made, multi-disciplinary performances that uplift and unite under-represented communities throughout Northwest Arkansas. Now in its seventh year, the company began as a group of young folx gathering after school to share writings and perform rhymes to create a space that made them feel heard and seen. Today, LXTP is committed to providing a safe space that allows artists at every stage of their creative journey and BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and/or people with disabilities to speak up, be seen, and celebrated. LatinX Theatre Project full-length plays include Follow Me @TioSam, Scratch That!, Blanket Statements, Crossroads, Arrivals & Salidas, Holy Waters. Digital offerings include Heroes & Monsters, Remedios, Remedios Vol. 2, and afterlife. LXTP's newest works have been featured annually in TheatreSquared's Arkansas New Play Festival since 2017. Their original music is available on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. LXTP is based in Springdale, Arkansas.
