About the play
Heroes & Monsters is a reboot of a previous LXTP production. Having originally been done completely online and over video chats due to the COVID-19 shutdowns, LXTP intends to bring this show to the real world using music, poetry, and fight/dance choreography. Heroes and Monsters is an online virtual world inhabited by some of the world's most prolific gamers, all amassed to answer one question: Who is the World's Next Legendary Warrior? Follow Xo, a newcomer to the game, who embarks on this quest and unravels the hidden lore and secrets this game holds in hopes of becoming the Hero this game needs, or the Villain who will take it all down.
ABOUT The ensemble
The LatinX Theatre Project (LXTP) advocates for social change by creating ensemble-made, multi-disciplinary performances that uplift and unite under-represented communities throughout Northwest Arkansas. Now in its seventh year, the company began as a group of young folx gathering after school to share writings and perform rhymes to create a space that made them feel heard and seen. Today, LXTP is committed to providing a safe space that allows artists at every stage of their creative journey and BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and/or people with disabilities to speak up, be seen, and celebrated. LatinX Theatre Project full-length plays include Follow Me @TioSam, Scratch That!, Blanket Statements, Crossroads, Arrivals & Salidas, Holy Waters. Digital offerings include Heroes & Monsters, Remedios, Remedios Vol. 2, and afterlife. LXTP's newest works have been featured annually in TheatreSquared's Arkansas New Play Festival since 2017. Their original music is available on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. LXTP is based in Springdale, Arkansas.
